Pep Guardiola gives a big update on Erling Haaland’s status for the next game after missing out through injury

PEP GUARDIOLA has given a big update on Erling Haaland’s fitness.

That was after the striker missed out on Manchester City’s 1-0 win at Leicester on Saturday.

Haaland, 22, gave City fans a scare when he was substituted with a foot injury in Tuesday’s 0-0 Champions League draw at Borussia Dortmund.

The very next day, he was seen limping to the hospital.

And fears were confirmed when Haaland failed to form the squad for today’s early kick-off.

The question now is when the prolific striker will return.

But Guardiola has provided a new update on Haaland’s fitness.

The Spaniard admits there’s no chance his star striker will face Sevilla on Wednesday as City have already booked their place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

And there’s only a slim chance of Haaland making a return against Fulham in time for next weekend.

But despite a ligament injury in his foot, the Norwegian should be fit again in time for the Carabao Cup duel against Chelsea.

Guardiola said: “He has ligament damage. He’s feeling better, we have another week.

“He won’t play against Sevilla because we’ve already qualified and hopefully he can help us against Fulham.

“If not, maybe he’ll play Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.”

Fantasy football fans will certainly be hoping for a return soon as many have Haaland on their side this weekend.
