People are just realizing iPhone settings trick gives you battery boost – it’s easy to get it wrong

A CLEVER feature on your iPhone can charge your battery very conveniently.

It’s important to get everything set up correctly – you’ll thank yourself later.

The feature is called “Optimized Battery Charging” and is designed for that

As you charge and discharge your iPhone over the months and years, the overall capacity of your battery will decrease.

This means that after two years of charging you’ve probably lost about 20% of the total capacity.

However, you can slow down this loss by using a clever iPhone hack called Optimized Battery Charging.

“As lithium-ion batteries chemically age, the amount of charge they can store decreases, resulting in shorter battery life and lower peak performance,” Apple said.

“With iOS 13 and later, optimized battery charging aims to reduce wear and tear on your battery and extend its lifespan by reducing the time your iPhone spends fully charged.”

It works by limiting the time your iPhone is fully charged.

This reduces the drain on the battery, which improves their health.

This way you will find that your battery will be healthier in the long run and you will be able to charge better later.

The function delays the charging process beyond 80%.

Your iPhone uses machine learning to understand your daily routine and determine the best time to do it.

This means that optimized battery charging is only activated when your iPhone is expected to be charged for a while.

For many people, this will be the case at night – although your own pattern may be different.

Your iPhone will charge that last 20% just before it thinks you’re going to need it.

Of course, you can override the function at any time.

How to enable optimized battery charging

The good news is that iOS 13 has optimized battery charging enabled by default.

To make sure you haven’t turned it off, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging.

Then look for “Optimized battery charging” and make sure the switch is on.

However, the function only works if you have activated other settings.

This is the most important part that people overlook. So check your settings immediately.

According to Apple, you need to make sure the following settings are enabled:

  • Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Location Services
  • Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > System Customization
  • Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Important Locations > Important Locations

The other important point to note is that the feature “takes at least 14 days to learn your charging habits,” the iPhone maker explained.

Apple added, “Also, your iPhone must be charged at least 9 times for 5 hours or more in a given location for Optimized Battery Charging to activate.”
