Pennsylvania Treasury to return $135 million in unclaimed assets in 2021 – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – More than $135 million in unclaimed real estate was returned from the Pennsylvania Treasury in 2021.

Even if it remains, Treasurer Stacy Garrity said there is still more than $4 billion in unclaimed assets.
“This money is owed to hard-working Pennsylvanians across the state and I encourage everyone to visit our website to see if you have any unclaimed assets waiting to be returned. ” Garrity said in a press release.

Pennsylvanians can search Unclaimed property database here. Unclaimed assets include dormant bank accounts, abandoned shares, and unwashed checks.
“One in ten Pennsylvanians has unclaimed property debt and the average value of a claim is $1,500,” says Garrity. “That can make a huge difference to a family trying to make a living.”

The Treasury also returned 229 military decorations and memorabilia to veterans and their families last year, including two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
