PennDOT reminds drivers to slow down – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — It’s National Work Zone Awareness Week, and PennDOT wants drivers to remember to slow down in work zones and switch for turn signal lights.

PennDOT officials said there are more work zones because it’s construction season. There is already massive construction on some roads.

PennDOT said its employees get injured and equipment damaged every year.
“We have crash trucks and you would be surprised how many crash trucks get hit,” said PennDOT District 11 Executive Cheryl Moon-Sirianni to find and get new ones. It’s great that crash trucks work, but we don’t want anyone to get involved in accidents.”

If you are caught in a work zone exceeding the speed limit by 11 miles per hour, you will automatically lose your driver’s license for 15 days.
