Pelé is the only player to have won the world championship three times, in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
He was hospitalized earlier this week after failing to respond to chemotherapy while battling colon cancer.
Reports had surfaced that said Pele had been placed in end-of-life palliative care.
However, his family came out to deny those rumors and provided a positive health update.

Daughter Kely Nascimento said: “He’s sick, he’s old. But right now he’s there for pneumonia. And as soon as he’s better, he’ll go home again.
“He’s not saying goodbye in a hospital at the moment.”
Pele’s other daughter, Flavia, added: “It’s very unfair for people to say he’s in palliative care at the end of his life. folks, that’s not true. believe us
“He’s not in intensive care, he’s in a normal bedroom. He is not at risk, he is under treatment.”
Brazil meets South Korea later today, hoping to secure a spot in the World Cup quarter-finals.
