Patrick Mahomes’ hairstylist claims he holds the key to Super Bowl success based on previous incidents

KANSAS City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes’ hairstylist believes he holds the key to their success.

The Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 12 at Super Bowl 57 in Glendale, Arizona.

But before he can take to the field, Mahomes’ barber believes he needs a fresh cut to win.

Mahomes and Co., their third Super Bowl in four years, lost their last try in February 2021 to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

And according to Mahomes’ barber, 48-year-old DeJuan Bonds, who spoke to the New York Post, her loss was all “because he didn’t have a haircut.”

He said: “When we were in the last one, as we were with COVID they had a hairdressing setup set up for me at the Arrowhead facility but I caught COVID so they couldn’t get haircuts.”

As such, “Pat busted to the Super Bowl — no haircut.”

Luckily for fans, Bonds will be on hand in Arizona starting Friday to tame the manes of Mahomes and 21 other Chiefs stars ahead of the big game.

On Monday night, Mahomes said, “DeJuan will keep me fresh.

“He always gives me the right cut. He’ll be in town this week making sure I go clean into the game.”

And Mahomes is far from the first Chiefs star to head to Bonds for a trim.

The team’s former hairstylist has worked with the Kansas City players since 2009.

He first worked with Mahomes shortly after entering the league in 2017 as the tenth overall pick after being recommended by star tight end Travis Kelce.

Bonds was less than impressed with the Texas Tech grad’s hair, saying: “One thing I remember is that whoever cut his hair didn’t like it, I didn’t think it was to him fits I had to wait patiently.”

After Mahomes’ hair was allowed to grow “in certain areas,” the look eventually became known as “the modified Mahomes Mohawk.”

This signature look will grace another Super Bowl next weekend, with Mahomes wanting his game-day attire to be “as fresh as possible.”
