With numerous appearances both in the ring and as an analyst who has worked at WWE and NXT events, the 35-year-old has hinted less than subtly that his future in the sport looks bright.

He tweeted: “There’s a lot of wrestling gossip going on about me right now..

“I think about wrestling every day…this dream isn’t over yet.

“My business is pretty active and demanding right now… + baby on the way… timing is everything

“I still have MASSIVE plans for my trip to WWE HOF one day.

“Believe that.”

As a nominee for the 2022 Modern Era class of the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame, induction into the WWE Hall of Fame is certainly a possibility.

During his relatively young wrestling career, he has victories at WrestleMania 38 and SummerSlam to his credit.

The latter was his last match, coming in July 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee, when he defeated Baron Corbin before announcing he would be retiring from the sport in September.

This hiatus allowed him to continue hosting The Pat McAfee Show and to work as a gameday analyst for ESPN’s College GameDay.

His show also provided alternate commentary on six of last season’s college football games on ESPN2, in collaboration with Omaha Productions, former Indianapolis Colts teammate Peyton Manning.

As if that wasn’t enough, McAfee recently revealed that he’s considering moving his show to “a network.”

On Wednesday, during his show, he explained: “To make my life a lot easier, I’m exploring the possibilities of maybe joining a network or family, a community that could help tackle a lot of things we’re encountering at this stage.”

This could mean they walk away from their current four-year, $120 million deal with FanDuel.

And most importantly, as McAfee mentioned in his tweet, he and wife Samantha are also soon to be first-time parents, with a daughter on the way.
