Paranormal Park parent guide and age rating

Dead end: Paranormal Park is the latest animated show to join Netflix’s massive library of original movies and shows! The series follows two teenagers (and a talking pug) as they encounter demons and general hauntings at a local haunted park. The show is diverse and features a transgender character, Barney (voiced by Zach Barack) as the lead.

The official synopsis provided by Netflix’s media center reads:

“Based on Hamish Steele’s horror comedy graphic novel DeadEndia and web short Dead End, Dead end: Paranormal Park follows the adventures of Barney, Norma and the magical talking dog Pugsley as they juggle their summer jobs at the local theme park’s haunted house while battling the very real supernatural forces that reside within. Along with their guide through the underworld multiplane, a smug thousand-year-old demon named Courtney, they will face off against zombie mascots, demonic game show hosts, sleep-sucking witches and the scariest thing of all: their first crushes!

Is Dead End: Paranormal Park suitable for children?

Yes, but it depends how young. The show is said to be “too scary for some kids, especially the younger or more sensitive ones”.

Death, demons, and possessions aren’t usually on your must-have list when it comes to picking a show to introduce your kids to, but they are Dead end: Paranormal Park it is a staple. While this may unsettle you, the endearing, heartwarming, funny and spooky show is sure to have you hooked in no time!

The animated series is extremely diverse, thought-provoking and tackles some hard-hitting subjects in a light and fun way. While geared toward older children, the show can be enjoyed by everyone and opens up conversations about the LGBTQ+ community, mental health, and race and diversity.

Dead End: Paranormal Park age rating

The official rating from IMDb says so Dead end: Paranormal Park is rated “TV-Y7”, meaning the show is suitable for children aged seven and over.

However, Common Sense Media has stated that due to some of the more spooky elements in the show, the short-form series would be best enjoyed by older children aged 10+ and we have to agree! 10 and up sounds fair.
