Panera Bread launches three new menu items but customers say it’s ‘overpriced for what it is’

PANERA Bread has launched three new things – but customers are already having a problem with it before it even touches their taste buds.
The fast food casual restaurant chain is expanding its sandwich lineup with the new Stacked Toasted Baguettes.

Panera describes them as a “savoury option” in a press release.
The stacked toasted baguettes all contain smoked pulled chicken and can be ordered in the following three varieties.
- Melt chicken and pepperoni mozzarella
- Green Goddess Chicken Caprese Melt
- Chicken Cordon Bleu Melt
However, there is a limitation.
The sandwiches are all $14.79 each, according to local prices viewed by The US Sun via the Panera app.
Customers expressed objections to this in a Reddit thread.
One said: “I tried the pepperoni mozzarella.” Basically a pizza sub. It was good, I just wish there were more pepperoni and cheese for this price, but that’s Panera for you.
“I can’t believe people actually spend money on Panera food, it’s completely overpriced for what it is,” wrote another.
But to add some context, Panera is known for being expensive compared to other fast food restaurants.
In fact, investment banking firm Stifel conducted a survey and found that Panera Bread offers its customers the second-highest prices out of 13 fast food chains in 20 cities surveyed, as reported by EatThis,NotThat! quoted.
Customers pay an average of $14.76 for each meal at Panera.
According to the survey, Five Guys was the only chain higher at $16.33.
As always, keep in mind that prices may vary by location.

But this isn’t the first time Panera has experimented with baguettes.
The fast food chain also recently launched four others, including the Black Forest Ham Gouda Melt and the Smoked Buffalo Chicken Melt.
On the toasted baguette menu, they’re all $12.39.
Panera also brought back a fan favorite for fall: the Cinnamon Crunch Latte.
The drink consists of espresso, steamed milk, cinnamon-flavored syrup, whipped cream, and cinnamon sugar as a topping.
Additionally, the following three additional favorites return for another fall:
- Autumn pumpkin soup
- Turkey chili
- Pumpkin cookies
Additionally, Panera has launched a new twist on a popular menu item: the Cinnamon Crunch Bagel.
Customers can now get ham, egg and cheese on the bagel this fall.
