MICHAEL OWEN has offered Mauricio Pochettino as the next Manchester United manager.
Working for BT Sport, the former striker led Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain alongside Rio Ferdinand when they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City last night.
Broadcasters polled Red Devils fans on who they would like to see in charge, with Pochettino appearing on top before the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag.
And Owen felt the same way, telling his panelists: “I do agree with some of these tweets, some of the last that we looked at.
“I really think Pochettino can do more with Man United than he can do with PSG.
“What can you do with that PSG team? The players themselves, really. They are good players, they choose themselves.
“But whether you can turn that into a Champions League winning team, I’m skeptical of that.
“Whereas a Manchester United, it’s okay they can’t be good enough at the moment to win the Champions League.

“But I think you can really mold them to be a lot better … getting much better results than they are now.”
On Ten Hag, Ferdinand added: “I think every single one of them, the people on that list have question marks, yes and no to all of them.
“But I think what you’re crying about with Man United is seeing the play, seeing an identity formed, a DNA.
“That’s not a question for his team at Ajax. Yes, it’s a different league, he is expected to win every year.
“But he still has to go and do it and you still have to go and create a play that suits the players on your list and he’s done that brilliantly here.
“And you also have to understand, he went through a period where he had to rebuild this team because he lost huge players, three of his best players, they were dropped. .
“Then there’s a recruitment carousel, but there are also young players coming into the team from the youth team.
“And then he’s tried to put it all together, he knows how to bring teams together, and that’s certainly a requirement for a Man United manager, in the way of life. this time.
“There’s a lot of ifs, buts and maybes when you bring in any manager.”
Owen continued: “I think Ajax has been one of the stars of the Champions League in recent years.
“Like Rio said, they’ve lost a lot of their best players, they still have this style of play.
I don’t think it’s Zidane, he barely speaks a word of English
“I mean this is just the cross-cutting DNA of the club that they have. And they lose a lot of their best players and somehow they manage to find another team to come back and qualify. for the next stage of the Champions League.
“I don’t know much about the manager, his team is definitely playing well so he has to come in but out of the four managers we’ve seen before, I think Pochettino is the most capable.
“I don’t think about Zidane at all, he barely speaks a word of English, I don’t think he really wants to manage in wet and cold Manchester – so I think he could be out.”
Ferdinand said: “Luis Enrique is a good option but the problem you have with Luis Enrique is that he is the Spain coach and the World Cup is in the middle of the season so that could rule him out. it.”
Owen added: “Pochettino is a hottie, they could have had him for nothing a few months ago, now he’s going to spend an absolute fortune to get him away from Paris Saint-Germain and without what’s changed at Manchester United.”
