Our lives have been made miserable by a nightmare neighbor…but he made a mistake and has been banned from our village for 15 YEARS

FEARED residents still live in fear of a crowbar-wielding neighbor from hell – despite being banished from their idyllic village until 2037.

Adrian Stairs threatened his neighbors with guns, made their life ‘hell’, chased delivery drivers and required four police vehicles when he was arrested.

The 59-year-old was told by a court this week he will not be able to return to the home he shared with his partner in Blisworth, Northants, for 15 years.

The judges heard the unemployed local resident used a chainsaw to cut down old trees in other people’s gardens.

The hellish neighbor also threatened a terrified resident with a brick.

A judge hit him with a restraining order that banned him from the streets until he is 74, but families there still fear he will sneak back in revenge.

Security cameras were installed on most houses up and down the street and neighbors were reluctant to speak.

But a neighbor said: “Everyone is relieved that Stairs has been banned from the village. He made our life hell.

“He once chased a terrified delivery driver down the street with a crowbar for parking across from his driveway for a few minutes.

“Another time, a van had a dead battery and police were forced to stand guard while a recovery team got it going again.

“And four police cars showed up trying to arrest Stairs.

“Some of us would stand against him. But he picked on anyone if he thought they were weaker than him.”

One middle-aged woman shook with fear as she said: “It’s not just Stairs, he’s got a whole family that seems just as bad as him.

“It was a relief when we heard that the court had banned him from the village.

“But various threats are still being made and I didn’t have to call the police again until this morning.”

It all started with Stairs cutting down shrubs and trees that had sentimental value in his neighbors’ yard.

They had been growing for more than 20 years and were given to the couple by relatives who have since died.

They refused to talk about Stairs when our reporter knocked on their door.

Neighbors claimed Stairs was also trying to expand his garden to an allotment garden behind his house.

The court was able to evict him from the village because he claimed his house belonged to his partner and he didn’t live there, neighbors said.

“Stairs thought he was smart,” said one. “But the ruse backfired. That gave the judges the power to order him to stay away.”

However, the injunction does not reassure all residents.

Another neighbor said: “Despite the restraining order, we all fear he will likely try to sneak back at night.

“That’s why I don’t want my name to be used. He’s always waving a crowbar around and I don’t want him trying to wrap one around my head.”

In addition to the injunction, Stairs was sentenced to a six-week suspended sentence by the Northampton Magistrates’ Court for assault and assault.

He fled the court before the verdict could be announced, but was arrested again and reappeared on December 2.

This resulted in another two-week suspended sentence being imposed at the same time, along with a 60-day rehabilitation order.

Police Sergeant Wyn Hughes on anti-social behavior said afterwards: “When the victims were notified of the restraining order in this case, it was like a load was lifted from their shoulders.

“It’s something they’ve struggled with for so long. I’m so happy for her.”

Stairs is now believed to be living in Wellingborough, some 20 miles away. But his partner is still in the house.

Two cars were parked in the driveway, but the curtains were drawn when our reporter called there. Nobody opened the door.
