Our homes are being rocked by horrific construction work building an “eyesore” factory

RESIDENTS have complained that their homes are being rocked by construction for an ‘eyesore factory’.

They said they keep windows closed, struggle to sleep and their desks shake for hours from the “nightmare” noise.

The bat comes from a £16million extension to a nearby Ideal Heating factory complex in Hull.

But the neighborhood has not been consulted on planning proposals because a rail line separates them from the factory.

It means that the dead end is considered to be in another station that does not need to be consulted.

Disabled grandmother Linda Barwick, 68, said: “I’m absolutely disgusted. This is no longer a nice, quiet residential area, but a commercial area.

“I intend to stay here for the duration of my life and may it be a long time yet, but it could be a noisy life from now on.

“The ongoing construction work and the noise are driving me crazy. There’s just no letting up.

“All you hear is bang, bang, bang, bang! It’s a nightmare.

“We have new PVC windows and can’t bear to open them because it’s so noisy outside. You can’t even hear yourself speak.”

She said the noise is nonstop on weekdays from 8am to 6pm.

Nurse Marie Barron, who works night shifts, said she can hardly sleep during the day when she needs to.

She told The Sun: “I come home from work and try to nod off but all I hear is the bang, bang, bang of the rams and machinery.

“It’s also just constant construction worker traffic. It makes life miserable.

“The building itself is an absolute eyesore, it’s huge.”

Another 49-year-old resident, who has lived on Bermondsey Drive for 18 years, said: “There has been a long history of loud noise and the result is a huge building on a massive scale that no one really anticipated.

“I’m more concerned about the noise that might come from the building when it’s in use. Will there be sustained noise for years to come?” Our homes are being rocked by horrific construction work building an “eyesore” factory
