Our daughter, 3, was sent home from kindergarten after teachers decided her sundress was ‘inappropriate’ – we are outraged

THE angry parents of a three-year-old girl blasted a daycare center after the tot was sent home because her clothing was deemed ‘inappropriate’ by teachers.

Little Lola Stonehouse’s mum and dad had dropped the child in an ankle-length dress at preschool when temperatures hit 30C.

But the boy’s outraged parents were told by staff to wear a top with the dress as the straps of her dress were less than two inches wide.

The preschool – Little Years Nursery School in Winnipeg, Canada – sent Lola home after they claimed her outfit went against their internal guidelines.

Lola’s mum Sadie hit out in kindergarten, saying it put her and her husband Jamie in a difficult position.

She told CTV News, “She’s not going to understand.

“She’ll think maybe she did something wrong when she really didn’t.

“So now she’s going to question her own body. And that’s such a young age to even worry about something like that.

“I don’t think a girl needs to worry about how much shoulder she bare when she’s getting dressed to go to school or anywhere.”

Dad Jamie added: “It’s a child. Innocence is innocence and we are the only ones who can give it to them.”

However, the kindergarten defended the measures taken, saying they followed the same dress code enforced by a local school.

The code prohibited thin straps and low-cut shirts for girls and low-sleeved tops for boys.

But after the Lola incident in May 2018, the preschool said it would review its dress code, CBC reports.

It comes after a father told how his daughter was sent home from school sobbing after her teacher claimed her outfit looked like lingerie.

Chris Wilson said schoolgirl Karis was terrified as she chose what to wear each morning after the male staff member complained.

She was reprimanded after being told the teacher at the secondary school in British Columbia, Canada, felt “uncomfortable” because of her dress.

Another teacher also commented that Karis’ clothes reminded her of a “lingerie outfit”.

The teenager wore a white long-sleeved shirt and a knee-length, lace-trimmed black dress.
