Oscars 2022 LIVE – The 94th Annual Academy Awards kick off with the red carpet as Kourtney Kardashian reveals the behind-the-scenes preparations

THE biggest night in Hollywood is here and stars are now taking to the red carpet to show off their glamorous looks.

The 94th Academy Awards has kicked off with stars including Vanessa Hudgens and Lily James walking the red carpet as anticipation for the ceremony mounts.

Kourtney Kardashian shared a behind-the-scenes look at her preparation for the Oscars, where her fiancé Travis Barker will be performing.

The pair showed off large PDAs on the red carpet while Kourtney, 42, wore a tight black dress and the Blink 182 drummer stayed cool in an all-black suit.

Sources say bosses were keen for Duchess to present Meghan with the best actress award.

But the idea had to be scrapped when Kristen Stewart was nominated for her role as Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, in Spencer.

It is now suspected that the couple could be in line to present the best picture award.

The ceremony will air on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

The show is also available to stream online on ABC.com.

The 2022 Oscars will be hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes.

A full list of nominations was released earlier this year.

Viewers can stream the ceremony live on abc.com or with the ABC app.

  • Time schedule

The 94th Academy Awards begins at 5 p.m. with red carpet coverage on E!’s Live from the Red Carpet Pre-Show.

ABC’s The Oscars Red Carpet Show airs at 6:30 p.m. with hosts Vanessa Hudgens, Terrence J and Brandon Maxwell.

The awards ceremony begins tonight at 8 p.m.

  • Who is hosting the pre-show?

Vanessa Hudgens, Terrence J and Brandon Maxwell have been announced as the hosts of the Oscars Red Carpet Show, which begins at 6:30 p.m. before the iconic ceremony.

“In addition to their live red carpet coverage, the trio will also highlight the 94th Academy Award nominees, cast and presenters, and give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the celebration,” Deadline said.

  • Conflict for pre-recorded segments

As viewership has plummeted in recent years, eight categories are now pre-recorded.

This week Matthew Loeb, president of the film crew union of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, took the bosses to task for their “harmful” pre-tapping plan, saying it wasn’t fair to the little-known nominees.

He added, “Workers behind the scenes get little recognition anyway.”

On Wednesday, Peter Kurland, a four-time Oscar-nominated recording engineer who sits on the board of directors of the Cinema Audio Society, resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences over plans to eliminate live gongs for categories like Best Sound.

The resignation comes just three weeks after Tom Fleischman, an Oscar-winning re-recording mixer, quit.

Vanessa Hudgens is one of the first to arrive on the Oscars 2022 red carpet as one of the pre-show co-hosts.

  • Celebs Have “Sweat Swabs”

An insider at Hollywood power brokers United Talent Agency told The Sun: “Everybody deals with sweat swabs.

“You get a nasal swab and then you sweat to see if the email gets through showing you’re positive. It’s a really turbulent time for big stars, and nominees in particular, as they know this could be their only shot at stardom.

“Testing will be requested at all events to show LA authorities they are following guidelines and adhering to ongoing union-agreed coronavirus measures regarding live broadcasts.

“Socializing at events throughout the week is obviously an important part of the celebrations, but there are fears that someone innocent could pick up Covid simply by mingling with an infected person.”

There is “significant concern about widespread infection,” particularly after many Bafta attendees and parties contracted the disease two weeks ago.

  • Stars test for Covid before events

Stars have been told they will be forced to miss both the prestigious Governor’s Ball ahead of the Oscars and the main event 48 hours later if they test positive.

Belfast director and contestant Kenneth Branagh tested positive last weekend and will miss the Oscar Wilde Awards in LA.

At least four other cast members from other films, including the multi-nominated The Power Of The Dog, have also contracted Covid in the past week.

  • Total transformations for the cast of House of Gucci

The cast of House of Gucci had to change completely to play on-screen versions of real-life members of the Italian fashion family.

The stars were unrecognizable for their roles following extensive costume and makeup overhauls, as well as accent changes, which only increased fan appreciation for their work.

One of the biggest transformations was that of Jared Leto, who looked completely different from himself in the role of designer Paolo Gucci.

With his scene-stealing portrayal of the character, some fans said they were also “really surprised” to see Jared snubbed in the Supporting Actor category at this year’s Oscars.
