‘Operation Baby Penguins’ hosts showers for 12 local military mothers – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – It’s not just about the holidays on Saturday, but 84 Lumber and the Penguins gave back to mothers and military families.

The Baby Penguin campaign honors 12 brand new mothers who are serving or are spouses of active-duty military members or veterans.
Every family receives a variety of gifts and gifts to help welcome their babies and support the transition to life with a newborn.

Katie Donnelly with the pens says the honor has surprised many families.
“There were tears. There were smiles. I think a few people think I’m playing a prank on them on the phone,” said Kaitlin Donahoe, Pittsburgh Penguins Corporate Partner Marketing Manager. “But you can only feel joy. I think especially at this time of year with the holidays, for those who don’t have their loved ones here they can be deployed overseas, a full household either small child or an expectant mother, I can’t even imagine them doing it alone. . There is so much emotion and so much excitement and we are so happy to have them here today. ”

This is the inaugural event for the penguins – but the team say they hope for more.
