ONE of Putin’s top parachute commanders was killed on the Ukrainian front lines while elite Russian fighters were facing a massacre on the battlefield.
The death of Colonel Sergei Sukharev, of the 331st Guards Parachute Regiment from Kostroma, was confirmed by state television in Moscow.
Previously, his “liquidation” was announced by the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security of Ukraine.
“Commander of the Kostroma Airborne Regiment, Colonel Sergei Sukharev… lost in the ‘ ‘[military] Ukraine’s statement said.
The report said that Deputy Major Sergei Krylov was killed along with him.
They were among those killed from the “glorious” Kostroma regiment, considered one of Russia’s most elite fighting forces.
Russia acknowledged that Sergeant Sergei Lebedev, Sergeant Alexander Limonov and Corporal Yuri Degtyaryov were also killed.
Sukharev was featured on Russian television in January when he led his troops back from Kazakhstan, where they were sent after a wave of protests.
The Russians describe their mission as “peacekeeping,” and Sukharev said his forces protected an important power plant in Almaty.
Also killed in Ukraine’s most recent fighting was military intelligence officer Sergey Vishnyakov, of the GRU’s 22nd Special Forces Brigade.
He is believed to have been killed fighting near Mariupol during a Grad assault by the Ukrainian Azov battalion.
Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Agarkov, from Volgograd, commander of a motorized rifle regiment, died in a special operation.
Major Ruslan Petrukhin, deputy battalion commander of the 38th Motorized Rifle Brigade, is also believed to have died while participating in the operation in Ukraine.
It took place after experts claimed Russian forces faced a massacre on the battlefield, crushed by Ukrainian defenders.
Although the tyrant was expected to take Kyiv in 48 hours, the Ukrainian people fought tirelessly to protect their country.
Taras Kuzio, an associate research fellow at the Henry Jackson Society, said dozens of Russian paratroopers were killed in the reckless attempt to capture Hostomel Airport.
He told The Sun Online: “They (the paratroopers) were sent ahead of the main force to secure a position where the main forces could be brought in.
“During this war, they were flown to Hostomel airport near Kyiv to do this but were all killed.
“Two paratrooper transport planes that had flown from Belarus to carry out similar tactics at another airfield near Kyiv were shot out of the sky. 300 paratroopers were killed in the two-person transport plane. “

The bloody invasion took a toll on Russian forces with a total of 13 commanders killed.
Earlier this week, military intelligence agent GRU Captain Alexey Glushchak31 years old, died in Mariupol.

Major General Andrei Sukhovetsky was killed by a Ukrainian sniper in the battle for Hostomel Airfield about 30 miles outside Kyiv.
And General Magomed Tushaev died when his Chechen task force, consisting of 56 tanks, was destroyed near Hostomel, northeast of the city.
Also among the Russians killed were Lord Vladimir Zhonga who led the Sparta Battalion, a neo-Nazi military unit backed by the Kremlin.
Two other unnamed senior Russian commanders were also arrested perished in the fighting.
