‘One Night in Miami’ Received Standard Collected Treatment

There’s no better time to start putting together your holiday gift list. If you’re shopping for a favorite movie this holiday season, Criterion Collection will release a few new movies on Blu-ray this month, including “One night in Miami. ”
The Criterion Collection version of King’s directorial debut will be released on December 7, giving you plenty of time to pre-order your Blu-ray disc as a gift.
Adapted from his 2013 play by Kemp Powers, “One Night in Miami” shares the fictional setting of a real-life meeting between Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, Malcolm X, and Sam Cooke. The story opens at a motel in Miami on the night of February 25, 1964, hours after Ali (later Cassius Clay) defeated Sonny Liston to become the world heavyweight champion.

“One Night in Miami” puts the audience in a room with four legends, each at the forefront of black American culture but with different views on tackling racism and the Civil Rights movement.
The Criterion Blu-ray Collection features “One Night in Miami” in 4K, along with new conversations between King and filmmaker Kasi Lemmons, plus new interviews with the screenwriter, cast and crew. and film crew. Also included: the making of the Oscar-nominated film, the sound design, and the conversation between King and Berry Jenkins.
“learning tree,A 1969 coming-of-age story, written and directed by legendary photographer Gordon Parks, is also up for pre-order. “The Learning Tree” is based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Parks and becomes the first film by a Black director in charge of a major studio. The Criterion Collection rollback will be released on December 14th, along with “Red shoes,” A 1948 British ballet play by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.
