Omicron disrupts business with sick worker – CBS Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It’s been a while, but the warning about COVID affecting retail and business hours is up again.
On Wednesday, it happened at a Walmart in the 5800 block of NW 177TH St that the store had to close for a deep clean.

Over the past week, the MIA has seen a number of flights delayed or canceled due to crew shortages, and that is also part of the reason scavenging operations have been left behind. It seems that wherever you go, the coronavirus has affected services.
“Let’s just say 7 employees tonight, I only have 4 tonight, so that’s more than a third of my previous employees,” says Allen Auyong.
Auyong is the managing partner for Restaurants about Dragon Fly, with locations in Orlando, Gainesville, and Doral.
“We are very cautious, so anyone who has symptoms we take them home,” he explained.
Auyong came down from Orlando to help and laid off some employees to make sure they didn’t get COVID.
“Unfortunately, we are short on staff on a busy week, the week before the new year is usually one of our busier weeks of the year,” he explains.

Staffing is one issue, but whether people will continue to patronize or support the business at this point is another.
“We want everyone to be safe, staff and guests too, but if you come to Dragonfly we will take care of you, we have a great Izakaya restaurant.” Auyong added.
Last week was also a perfect storm for the Miami-Dade Solid Waste Management Department, as holiday schedules clashed with COVID cases among employees. December 24 is a public holiday on which workers are entitled to the day off.
“What happened on Tuesday, the 28th we had almost double the waste days compared to the higher than usual number of employee absenteeism,” said Gayle Love, Sr. said.
There won’t be any more delays.
“We recognize that sometimes there will be delays and so you may pick up your trash later in the day than usual,” she says.

Love is asking for the patience of the public, as the Omicron variant continues to occupy a strong place in the community.
