COPS has charged a 34-year-old man with the murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel in Liverpool after a six-week manhunt.
The youth was shot dead when a gunman chased convicted burglar Joseph Nee into her home on August 22.
A bullet went through Olivia’s mother’s wrist before striking the boy in her body, mortally wounding her.
She was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead later that night.
On Thursday, Merseyside Police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of her murder.
And tonight they revealed Thomas Cashman has been charged with her murder during a press conference at their Rose Hill headquarters on Cazneau Street.
He was also charged with the attempted murders of Cheryl Korbel and Joseph Nee and possession of firearms.
Paul Russell, 40, has been charged with aiding and abetting a perpetrator.
Police have made a total of 10 arrests in connection with Olivia’s murder.
The previous nine have all been released on bail and have not been charged.
Both men are due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Police are still asking anyone who may have information or video surveillance of the incident to come forward.
Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen said: “Our work continues in earnest.
“When the investigation began, we were determined to find everyone involved in this case, including those who attempted to shield and protect people and those who supplied the gun or hid the guns used in this incident.
“Since Olivia’s tragic murder we have received an overwhelming response and support from the public and I would like to ask for your continued support as we continue to deliver on the promise we made to Olivia’s family and the local community to ensure that those involved are brought to justice.
“Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with @MerPolCC or contact @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
“If you have any CCTV/dashcam/smart doorbell footage that could assist our investigation, it can be downloaded from the dedicated public portal for Olivia’s murder, which is routed directly to the investigative team. Recordings can be submitted here.
“Finally, our thoughts today are with Olivia’s mother and father, Cheryl and John Francis and their families, who have shown incredible strength, courage and dignity over the past few weeks.”
