THE BABYSITTER blamed for the breakdown of Olivia Newton-John’s first marriage has been sighted for the first time since the Grease star’s death.

Cindy Jessup, 49, was spotted running errands in her hometown of Encinitas, California after Newton-John died of cancer on Monday at the age of 73.

Wearing floral jumpsuit, blue sandals and aviator sunglasses, she was off to fetch groceries.

New Zealand-born Cindy was just 23 when she began working for Olivia and her then-husband Matt Lattanzi while the singer-actress was battling breast cancer for the first time.

She looked after the couple’s then seven-year-old daughter Chloe while the family lived in Byron Bay, Australia.

Olivia and Matt split two years later, leaving her single at 48 and battling the disease.

Cindy later married Lattanzi, now 63, in California, but they also divorced and she now lives near San Diego and is an aspiring relationship therapist.

She also married a transplant surgeon with whom she shares two children.

Asked by The Sun, she said: “The world has lost a true angel.
“Olivia cared deeply about people and the planet.”

“She was such a force for good and was always helping others.”

Cindy was back in the public spotlight this week after Newton-John finally lost her third battle with cancer.

She originally met Lattanzi in 1993 and hit it off over their shared passion for cycling.

Cindy later cycled from Sydney to Perth to raise funds for the actress’ cancer charity.

But Olivia began to have doubts about her and Matt’s relationship and is said to have confronted him about it.

The blast led to Lattanzi moving in with Cindy and divorcing Olivia in 1995.

He married the former nanny when he was 40 and she was 28 in 1997.

He said at the time: “I’m so happy. I couldn’t ask for a better result.”

But the couple split after 10 years together in 2007.

Olivia doesn’t seem to hold grudges towards Lattanzi or Cindy for what happened.

She said: “I think our marriage would have ended eventually, but it happened sooner because of cancer, which was a good thing.

“It was very painful, but we never argued.

“We tried to stay friendly because we have a child and we made a pact that she was the most important thing in our lives and that we would never fight over her. What happened between us was between us and we wouldn’t let it affect her.

“Divorce is never okay. Everyone wants the happy ending and the white picket fence, especially me. My own parents divorced when I was 10, and maybe that’s why I kept delaying marriage.

“When I got married I wanted it to last forever, but it wasn’t meant to be.”
