OLEKSANDR USYK opened the door to play against Canelo Alvarez in the cruiser class.
Canelo, who has won titles in four tournaments, most recently became undisputed super middleweight champion.
But then he was granted a request by WBC to step up to cruiser class and challenge their belts.
It was previously held by Usyk before the Ukrainian moved up to heavyweight, where he recently defeated Anthony Joshua in stunning style.
With the prospect of Canelo campaigning at his old platform, Usyk confirmed he’ll be back against the Mexicans.
I said BoxingInsider: “Yes, I can fight him at cruiser rank. But there’s only one thing – I keep my belt heavy.
“Then I go back to cruiser class and fight him and then I go back to heavyweight.”
Usyk, 34, beat Joshua, 32, to win the unified WBA, IBF and WBO belts in September.

He scaled up The 15th 11lbs the day before, THREE AND-Half-WICK heavier than the 12th Canelo at super middleweight.
Canelo, 31, won the all-time light-middleweight title from light to heavyweight.
The heaviest win of his career was the 175lb WBO title he won after knocking out Sergey Kovalev, 39, in November 2019.
But Canelo soon relegated to super-middle class, where he has since resolved.
And the British superstar became the undisputed champion after just 11 months and four fights.
Victory over Callum Smith, Avni Yildirim, Billy Joe Saunders and most recently Caleb Plant saw him win and retain the title.
The leap to cruiser class will be two classes higher and check out Canelo try and conquer a FIFTH weight class.
