A NURSE accused of murdering seven babies broke down in tears yesterday as a doctor testified at her trial.

Lucy Letby, who had remained calm throughout the 16-week case, was led into the cells to calm herself.

She broke down when a pediatrician, who cannot legally be named, began testifying.

It was about baby L – one of the twins Letby allegedly injected insulin at a Chester hospital.

Letby wiped tears from a box with tissues and sipped water at Manchester Crown Court.

Judge James Goss asked a defense attorney to review them.

A lawyer then spoke to her through a pane of glass.

Letby, 33, from Hereford, denies murdering seven babies and attempting to kill ten.
