“Now I don’t want to move anymore”

Barcelona star Luuk de Jong has insisted he wants to stay at Camp Nou at least until the end of his loan deal, although that means he will be relegated to the bench.

The Catalan side have signed De Jong on a season-long loan from La Liga rivals Seville in the transfer window last summer. While the Dutchman was brought in to replace Antoine Griezmann, his arrival was not what pleased Barcelona fans.

De Jong has struggled to make a significant impact at Camp Nou, scoring just one goal in the first half of the season. There have even been suggestions that Barcelona prepare to cut the 31-year-old’s loan deal this month.

However, the Dutch international confirmed that he did not want to leave the club before this year’s season ended. De Jong also hasn’t given up hope of a permanent move to Camp Nou, as he has pointed out Blaugrana Still undecided whether to use their option to buy him or not. He told the Dutch daily Algemeen Dagblad [via Voetbal Zone]:

“We’ve been here with my family for half a year, I don’t want to move out again. And yes, even if I had to be a surrogate again, I might still be valuable. But the club has yet to make an official statement. We shall see. I am also still owned by Sevilla. My contract will run for another year after this season.”

Barcelona have the option of making De Jong loan permanent, but it remains to be seen whether they will accept that option. Meanwhile, the midfielder has a contract with Sevilla until the summer of 2023.

Can Luuk de Jong turn the tide in Barcelona?

While Luuk de Jong failed to make a significant impression in the first half of the season, he hopes to turn the tide at Camp Nou. The former PSV Eindhoven striker has been in fine form for Xavi’s side since the start of the year.

De Jong has scored in each of the three games he has played this month. The Dutchman will now look to build momentum and establish himself as a regular for Blaugrana.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are said to be looking for a new striker before the transfer window closes. They have been linked with a host of players, including Alvaro Morata. “Now I don’t want to move anymore”
