A WOMAN with an alphabet-inspired name has hit back at critics of the very unusual moniker.
Abcde recently took to TikTok to share a fake video of someone getting her name wrong at the nail salon, prompting hundreds of people to ask her how it’s pronounced.
She then returned to the social media site with another video, in which she said: “So a lot of you wanted to know how to pronounce my name.”
One person had suggested pronouncing the name “obesity”, which Abcde called “wild”.
“It’s pronounced ‘absidee’ — abcde, absidee,” she said.
However, her explanation did little to placate the critics, many of whom took to the comments section to comment on her name.
“The name is cute but the spelling is killing me,” one person commented, to which Abcde replied, “But this is my favorite part.”
“Not tryna b mean but it’s not unique it’s the alphabet,” another person wrote.
While a third added: “That has to be the worst name I’ve ever heard.”
“Your parents are funny for that, what’s the meaning behind that? Or an origin story like that?” someone else asked.
Others insisted the name isn’t that unusual, with one writing, “Pediatric nurse here… I’ve seen your name countless times.”
“OMG… When I had my youngest daughter the lady in the bed next door also called her daughter Abcde,” commented another.
While another added, “My daughter’s name is abcde too – never seen or met anyone with the same name!”
“Do you personally like your name? That’s so cool,” asked another person.
To which Abcde replied: “I love my name tbh.”
