NICK KYRGIOS has rushed to defend fellow tennis player Daniil Medvedev after he fell at the Canadian Open.
Kyrgios and Medvedev faced off in the round of 16 of the tennis tournament, with Kyrgios claiming victory thanks to a 7-6, 6-4, 6-2 result.
As Medvedev, who is currently number 1 in the world, left the court, a fan shouted “Loser” at him.
The Russian was unperturbed by the comments and, flanked by security forces, confronted the heckler.
After a lively discussion, Medvedev pointed his hands at his head in a thoughtful gesture before walking away.
After seeing the clip online, Kyrgios jumped to Medvedev’s defense.
Accept Twitter, he said: “Disgusting behavior.
“It’s the best thing we have in sport, the fans have to show some respect.”
The often bad-tempered Australian added the condemnation from a Medvedev fan account that circulated the video.
The initial of the account tweet said: “God, how horrible fans can be when they yell ‘loser’ at a tennis player on the court after a tough fight.

Kyrgios made it to the quarterfinals before being eliminated by world No. 10 Hubert Hurkacz.
Earlier this year, Kyrgios made it to the Wimbledon final, where he asked the referee to kick out a fan he claimed had had “about 700 drinks” as he suffered a four-set loss to Novak Djokovic.
