Scott, 60, saw their work first hand as he helped EastEnders star Babs battle dementia.

He said: “I don’t refer to NHS staff as staff, I refer to them as angels.

“The same goes for those in nursing homes.

“The kindness and love they show your family when you are in need surpasses everything.”

Scott also said it was crazy that showbiz and pop stars received awards while health workers received little thanks.

That’s why he supports our awards, which are sponsored by the National Lottery and in partnership with NHS Charities Together.

Babs died in 2020 at age 83, but Babs’ Army is raising millions for Alzheimer’s research.

Scott said: “I’m incredibly proud of her.

“She will always be in my heart.”
