NEWCASTLE will reportedly test Kalvin Phillips’ loyalty to Leads by offering to quadruple his wages.
The Leeds star, 26, has been with Elland Road Club since 2010.
But his performances in the white shirts of the Yorkshire club and England mean the £60million-rated man is on many clubs’ radars ahead of the summer transfer window.
Reports this week suggested Phillips had told Leeds he wanted to extend his current £25,000-a-week contract beyond 2024.
But according to the Mirror, Newcastle are ready to submit a mammoth deal.
It’s said to be worth a whopping £120,000 a week.
This would add £95,000 a week to the midfielder’s wages – or almost five times as much.
The mega-rich Toon were taken over by the Saudi-led consortium at the start of the season and have plenty of cash on hand to improve the squad and challenge the club for trophies and compete again in Europe.
However, the Magpies face stiff competition for Phillips’ signature.
Steven Gerrard has identified him as a key transfer target for Aston Villa.

West Ham tried their luck with two bids in January – the latter of £55million – and could back him up again, especially if they lose his Three Lions pal Declan Rice.
Elsewhere, giants Liverpool and Manchester United, Leeds’ big rivals, are also said to be monitoring the situation.
Phillips featured in all seven games of England’s Euro 2020 but has been struggling with a hamstring injury this season.
He made just his 13th Premier League appearance on Saturday – and first since December 5 – coming off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Southampton.
