Newcastle United are considering loaning the 24-year-old Liverpool player

According to the report, Newcastle United Football Club are preparing a move to Liverpool on loan for defender Nathaniel Phillips. The defender has barely played for the Red Devils this season, making just four appearances in all competitions.

Phillips was a key member of the team last season as the Reds struggled with injuries to their number one choice defenders. He made 20 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring and assisting a goal each.

However, since the first squad is available, the English player has become redundant compared to the needs of coach Jurgen Klopp.

Based on echoes of LiverpoolNewcastle are looking to sign Phillips on loan during the January transfer window. The deal could also include a £15m purchase option if the Warblers can stay in the Premier League at the end of the season.

They have the second worst defense in the league behind Norwich City this season, having conceded 43 goals. As such, Phillips could be an important signing for the Toons to strengthen their defence for the remainder of the season.

The second half of the season is important for Liverpool and Newcastle United

They will need to play at the top after the international break to have any hope of catching up with Cityzens.

They were in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea and are alive in the FA Cup and Champions League. But Premier League The title is what they will keep an eye on.

They face Cardiff City in the fourth round of the FA Cup before taking on Leicester City in the Premier League after the international break.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are stuck in the relegation zone, currently sitting in 18th place. They will need to ensure they can add these signings and strengthen their squad before promoted in the second half of the season.

They will desperately need their January signings to come to fruition if they have any chance of staying.
