Instead, the Foxes have offered their star midfielder an improved deal to convince him to stay.
According to The Telegraph, the mega-rich Toon submitted the offer on Friday, but Brendan Rodgers’ side had none of it.
Maddison joined Leicester from Norwich in 2018 for £25million and has been one of the club’s standout players throughout his time at the East Midlands – winning one cap for England.
He is currently under contract until 2024, having signed his last deal with the club in 2020.
The 25-year-old had a fantastic season with 18 goals and 12 assists last season.
It was form that earned him Leicester’s Player of the Season award.
And according to the Daily Mail, the club plan to further reward him with a pay rise in the autumn.
Leicester are already struggling to keep Youri Tielemans and Kasper Schmeichel before the transfer window closes.
And the Foxes are the only club in Europe’s top seven leagues to sign a contract this summer.
This is despite Rodgers repeatedly stating his desire and need to refresh the roster over the past season.
