Newcastle hero Bruno Guimaraes reveals he didn’t sleep TWO DAYS after giving birth to first son ahead of epic Tottenham win

NEWCASTLE star Bruno Guimaraes has not slept for TWO DAYS after welcoming the birth of his first child and then beating Spurs in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old Brazilian’s fiancée, Ana Lidia Martins, gave birth to their first child, Matteo, on Friday night.

Less than 48 hours later, the ex-Lyoner then took the field for Eddie Howe’s side as they beat Spurs 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And Guimaraes confirmed after the game that he has been sleep deprived since Matteo was born.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s been amazing days for me becoming a father for the first time. It was amazing. I had two days without sleep.

“I would stay at home but I love being here with these guys. They make me happy and proud and I think we deserved it today.

“That was one of the best days of my life [Matteo’s birth]. I am very happy and proud. It was like a dream. I have no words because it’s amazing what has happened in my life.

“I thank my family. It was difficult, but it was worth it.”

Newcastle-based Guimaraes team-mate Callum Wilson added: “It was a win for Matteo!”

Guimaraes confirmed the birth of his son via Instagram over the weekend.

Alongside a photo of his son and his partner Ana, he said: “Welcome to the world son! With great joy I announce the arrival of my first son, without a doubt today is the best day of my life!

“First I want to congratulate you my love, you are a warrior that you were and you are, after everything you have been through in your life you see how you put all the strength, over every contraction and the love, that you already have shown going out for our son no there is an explanation!!

“I respect you more every day for the woman you are! Definitely the woman of my life!

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a real sense that there’s anything unique about a mother and father’s love for their child, and today I can see that, as much as I believed it was possible, it didn’t even come close to that.” Love I feel for my son!

“I thank my parents for everything they have done for me and now I want to be to Matteo at least 10% of what they were to me! Ana, my love, I am already sure that you will be the best mother in the world and thank you for making my lifetime dream of being a father come true!

Guimaraes has been in good form so far this season, contributing two goals and two assists in eight Premier League games.

And the win over Spurs puts Howe’s men in the top 4 as they climb above Chelsea and Manchester United.
