It’s not every day that there’s positive news about Amazon’s New World. Perhaps 2022 will be the year when MMOs turn the tide and finally make the community happy with the state of the game. It looks like the developers have had a very good start to the year as they’ve been planning to extend the game’s Winter Convergence event thanks to the massive attendance.
“Due to the amazing amount of participants we’ve seen from this event, we’ve decided to extend it to January 25th! Please note that any unopened giveaways and unused event codes will disappears at the end of the event, so make sure you don’t “lose any potential gifts,” read a post by one of the community managers on the New World Forum.
“In addition, all Winter Convergence gift items will be available from January 21, 2022 12:01 am to 11:59 pm January 24, 2022,” it continued. “Make sure you pick up any items you may have missed in the meantime. You probably won’t see them again!”
The Winter Convergence event brought a number of changes to the New World, most notably a map overhaul during the winter with a layer of snow. Players can earn Winter Tokens by completing repeatable quests for the Winter Wanderers and submitting them at the Holiday Shop for limited-time cosmetics.
Ice Caves have sprung up all over Aeternum thanks to the Winter Soldier’s wish for an Forever Winter. These caves are the reason the map has many layers of snow. Players will also be able to participate in special activities like the Spirit of Convergence, which requires you to help decorate each settlement’s Tree of Light for improved daily rewards. Lost Present Recovery will ask you to retrieve the gifts stolen by Frigid Folk.
The event will also see Gleamlight meteors fall from the night sky, allowing players to collect their ruins and transfer them at the Winter Village Holiday Huts for additional Winter Tokens. Seven new quests will also be added to the roster as part of the event. They will start at level 15 and end at level 60.
