New NCH partnership to improve OB/GYN care, shorten waiting times

NCH is starting a new partnership with the Obstetrics and Gynecology Group on Wednesday to shorten wait times for Obstetrics and Gynecology patients and let them receive care closer to home.

Obstetricians and Gynecologists will provide 24/7 support to local Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which NCH says will improve outcomes and increase patient satisfaction compared to stool models. traditional type. In-house obstetricians will be present at the obstetrics and gynecology emergency room to assess patients as soon as they enter to ensure on-time delivery without waiting for an outside doctor to arrive. The NCH is also working to become a third-degree NICU, requiring these obstetricians to be there 24/7.

Doctors told WINK News this will move NCH far into the future in terms of the care it can provide women and their babies.

“It’s exciting because, as you said, I’m delivering people that I delivered over 20 years ago, and I know and remember the problems, possibly, that their mothers had,” said Dr. Thomas Backett, chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NCH. room. “And now I know that if a similar situation occurs, we can resolve it quickly.”

While eliminating the need for a doctor to come from elsewhere for expectant mothers, the program does not take patients from their doctor. Instead, it helps ensure that patients get the support they need from an Obstetrician-Gynecologist right away, no matter what time of day. The hospital has also seen an increase in substance abuse, meaning someone will always be around to provide prenatal care for mothers who need it. All in all, it will significantly increase the medical resources available to women in Collier County and their babies without having to travel far.

“It’s about providing the best and highest quality care, closer to family,” said Paula DiGrigoli, administrative director of women and children’s services at NCH. “For all the mothers and children in Collier County, regardless of whether they have a doctor…if they can afford it or not.”
