GOOD PEOPLE IN THE MORNING
Brendan Rodgers has been linked with Manchester United following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer today.
The Red Devils are set to pay £8m in compensation to his current club, Leicester.
That’s £7.5m for Solskjaer.
Former Liverpool manager Rodgers has a clause in his contract that allows him to speak to a number of clubs if they come knocking – and United are one.
Sacked Solskjaer believes whoever takes over MUST win the Premier League.
He said: “Well, as I have said many times in interviews, I have been supported.
“The board of directors and owners have supported me [terms of] put good people, good players in and I think, or I know I leave this club with a better squad.
“The environment is amazing, it’s an environment that I’m proud to leave because you have to enjoy coming here to work.
“I don’t want to beat against anything but the two times I left Molde, they won the tournament next year.
“So all the best for whoever takes over – that’s expected!”
Mikel Arteta is targeting rebuilding at Arsenal, and RB Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi is the one the Spaniard is interested in.
According to the Mirror, the Gunners are interested in signing the 19-year-old as a long-term replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.
Ligue 1 descended into chaos again when Dimitri Payet was hit in the head by a full water bottle thrown from the stands, leading to the match being abandoned.
Payet, 34, headed home a corner for Marseille just four minutes after their clash with Lyon on Sunday night.
But when he was about to perform the kick, a thug at the end of the house threw a plastic bottle in.
Leeds United are said to be targeting Chelsea outcast Ross Barkley, who has played just 126 minutes in the Premier League this term.
According to the Daily Mail, Leeds are monitoring Barkley’s situation at Chelsea ahead of the possible January transfer window.
Barkley has played just 126 minutes this season, not scoring a goal or providing an assist.
