Netflix’s Horizon Zero Dawn series is rumored to be called Horizon 2074

We previously reported that Netflix is ​​developing one Horizon Zero Dawn Series as part of streamers overall are pushing more video game adaptations and games in general. Now it looks like we finally have a name and some information about the crew that will be working on the project!

according to a Tweet from industry insider Jeff Grubbthe series is titled Horizon 2074. Grubb found a listing for the show and some of the crew on the Directors Guild of Ontario website. This project is still in the very early stages of development so everything could change, but the title hints at the potential plot of the show.

If all of this is true, it means the series will likely be filmed in Toronto, Canada. That’s an affordable option for the show thanks to tax incentives, albeit a slightly disappointing location given the size and beauty of Horizon’s scenery, which we’re unlikely to see if filmed there.

What does horizon 2074 mean?

The events of Horizon Zero Dawn begin in the year 3020, although Aloy’s main journey takes another 20 years or so later. But if the title is any indication of what era the show will cover, it would suggest that the series is set almost 1,000 years before the game, making it sound like a prequel more than anything.

It’s actually an interesting choice because 2074 is roughly the time civilization began to fall, so we won’t see the actual start of the uprising and all the drama between Ted Faro and Elisabet Sobeck.

The year 2074 in this Universe is right in the midst of the fall of civilization and HADES and GAIA begin their work of restoring a viable atmosphere. I wonder if this era was chosen to minimize the use of machines and CGI.

Still, this is a very early guess, so my theories could be completely unfounded, and there could also be flashbacks to Ted and Elisabet.
