Netflix has begun production of season 3 of The Witcher

Season three of The Witcher appears to have begun production, with members of the production team sharing some behind-the-scenes location investigations.

We’ve known for a while that The Witcher is going to make it past season two, and it’s no surprise considering how popular the show is on Netflix. Back in December, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich revealed that the scripts for the third season were “nearly done”, implying that full production was not far off.

However, you may not expect production to have started. As reported by Redenian Intelligence, several staff members working on The Witcher have begun sharing images that imply that pre-production is underway and full production is not far off. Some pictures were taken from last week.

On Instagram, Producer Steve Gaub shared an image of a forest with the caption“Day 1 of Scouting in place for season 3 of The Witcher. And so it began”. Then he posted a photo of a crooked tree, saying“Another day, another scout on The Witcher. This looks like something a dwarf would use to hide from the Immortal Mother. But then we learn that the Immortal Mother is now gone. wandering in another realm”.

The most recent photo from Gaub shows some sort of castle corridor, captioned, “Is something evil this way appearing in season 3 of The Witcher? Location scouting adventures? still continue”. Although it looks like the group is just scouting the location, Another photo shows a warehouse being unpackedwith Gaub’s promise, “We definitely won’t get any smaller in season 3”.

It’s not just Steve Gaub who shares photos, like showrunner Lauren Hissrich also posted on Instagram to celebrate the third season’s first scouting trip. The image appears to resemble the area from Gaub’s first location seeker and is captioned “#TheWitcher S3 First Sniper!”

While it’s clear work is being done on The Witcher, the photos shared by Gaub and Hissrich imply that there’s still a lot of production work to be done.
