Neighbors after the murder-suicide in Cape Coral

On Saturday, the Cape Coral Police Department and SWAT team members willHeat a house in Cape Coral. This happened along 13 SE Avenue in Cape Coral.

Now, WINK News is trying to uncover how death in what we now know as a murder-suicide began as a hostage situation. We now know that two men are dead and a woman was able to escape after she called 911.

People who live near SE 13 Ave say they are a bit shaken. At first, no one knew what was going on. They just see SWAT team members everywhere.

They have since learned that one man died and the woman involved survived the ordeal.

Cape Coral PD said they are still trying to find out about the murder-suicide that took place along SE 13 Ave on Saturday. The same goes for the residents who live in this neighborhood.

Mike Mason lived there for 13 years. However, he said he didn’t know much about the neighbor across from him. “I waved to her across the street once, “Hi, welcome to the neighborhood,” but that’s it,” Mason said.

But that woman could have saved her own life. She said a man took her and a 50-year-old man hostage in that house. But, she was able to sneak away, call 911 and then leave the line open.

When officers arrived and reached the door, they said the woman ran outside screaming. Moments later, everyone heard gunshots.

“Before filming, early in the morning, I saw two guys like that around her house, out in the front yard. I just went to work and around 11:30 am I heard ‘bam, bam, bam’, like what the hell? ‘ said Mason.

According to Cape PD, Adrian Hernandez Martinez murdered the 50-year-old man and then committed suicide.

Charles Bratcher also lives in Cape Coral. “It’s a pity those two guys couldn’t get up and walk away,” Bratcher said.

Cape Coral Police continue to investigate why those two men are now dead. Detectives will not release the name of the woman who was able to escape.
