NECO WILLIAMS broke down in tears after Wales’ World Cup comeback against USA on TV.

That’s after he revealed his grandpa had died the day before the crunch clash.

But the game was emotional for Nottingham Forest full-back Williams.

The ace broke down in tears as the two sides greeted their visiting fans in Qatar.

Williams was visibly upset as he took in the applause from the Red Wall.

And as the camera followed Williams off the seat, he said into the lens, “That was for you, grandpa.”

The defender then took to social media to reveal that his loved one passed away on Sunday.

Williams called it the “hardest news” he’s ever received after receiving a phone call from his mother.

And the fan favorite added he “cried all day” before stepping on the plate for his country.

Thanking his Welsh team-mates for their support, Williams tweeted: “Yesterday was the hardest news I’ve ever had to experience and that was how my mum told me my grandpa passed away last night.

“It was extremely hard going from crying all day to starting a World Cup game, but I got through it thanks to the support of my teammates and family.

“So I dedicate this game and an important point to him.”

Fans were quick to console Williams, with one responding: “Your grandpa would have been so proud of the shift you put on tonight.”

Another said: “Incredible you managed to play in a game of this magnitude with all the game in mind. He would have been proud of you.”
