ENERGETIC soccer fans have lost an amazing TEN TONS in weight after signing up to get active.
Nearly 2,500 fans signed up for their clubs’ Fit Fans program in a bid to lose the equivalent of ten Volkswagen Beetles.
Clubs across the English football league offer advice on diet and weight loss to football fans looking to lose excess weight.
Nutrition and fitness experts come to clubs for an initial 12-week program before fans take part in community activities.
Sessions are being promoted this week as 72 league clubs take part in their week of action which includes Wigan hosting a football session for Afghan refugees.

IT project manager Jonathan Sutcliffe, 39, has lost more than two bricks since joining the Bradford City Get-Fit scheme.
He said: “I have two boys and before that I didn’t have the energy to play football with them.
“Now I can’t wait to kick around with them.
“The program has helped me with my overall well-being and I’ve even gone down a dress size or two.
“The advice I was given to make some dietary changes and increase my steps from 500 a day to around 35,000 is really paying off.”

“We hear so many positive stories, not only of improvements in health, but also of the strong camaraderie and friendships that are formed within the FIT FANS family.”
