NBC reveals fate of SVU renewal or cancellation as Law and Order dramas air for a long hiatus
NBC recently announced that their star legal dramas will stay here.
NBC’s Law & Order dramas will return to the network very soon as they have been renewed for another season.
The Dick Wolf-produced series Law & Order and its spinoffs Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime will return to NBC in 2023-2024, Deadline reported.
Each of the drama series, with the exception of Law & Order: Organized Crime, will receive 22 episodes.
Law & Order: Organized Crime will only get 13 episodes.
The “Law & Order” series, “Organized Crime” and “SVU” are among the “top ten air dramas of the television season,” the news outlet reported.
NBC stated that after several days of delayed viewing across all platforms, SVU was the hit show of the season.
“We understand the emotional connection our audience has to these characters, and we can’t wait to bring more of their stories to the fore next season,” Lisa told Katz, President, Scripted Programming, NBCUniversal and Streaming deadline.
“A huge thank you to Dick and his amazing team for producing incredibly compelling television week in and week out.”
Dick added, “I’m excited to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC.

“Reprising all six shows is the ultimate recognition of our incredible cast, producers and writers.
“I also want to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for a total of 84 seasons.”
Online fans expressed that they were thrilled that Law & Order would be back.
“Great news, although I was hoping for a 2 or 3 year extension for everyone,” commented one fan.
“These are my favorite shows and I watch them religiously every week.
“It’s great that Dick Wolf lets more of the real working day flow into the shows.
“It’s a great work-life balance. Keep up the great stories.
“NBC, you need to renew all of these shows longer than a year at a time.”
LAW & ORDER’S HIATUS
New episodes of Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Organized Crime last premiered on February 23, 2023.
Other episodes were not scheduled to premiere until March 23.
This break in the schedule was planned by NBC prior to the start of the season, so details on upcoming episodes have not been released.
Law & Order fans often become invested in the series, making schedule breaks difficult.
Some have since taken to Twitter to express their frustration at the lack of upcoming episodes.
One user said, “Brother how the hell do you expect me to wait a month.”
Another added: “A month? GTFO.”
A third wrote: “A month is crazy folks.”
