A Navy sailor who died of coronavirus-related problems earlier this week has been recognized as Aviation Electrician’s Mate (Mechanical) 1st Class Cory Weber.
Weber, 51, died Sunday at Dawn Hospital in Las Vegas after he examined constructive for COVID-19 on Sept. 17 and was hospitalized on Sept. 20, the Navy stated in a Wednesday assertion.
He had been assigned to the Naval Aviation Warfighting Improvement Command in Fallon, Nev.
“We mourn alongside the household, associates and shipmates of Petty Officer Weber throughout this extraordinarily troublesome time, and we ask that their privateness be revered,” in accordance with the assertion.
The discharge didn’t say whether or not Weber had obtained any COVID-19 vaccines, which active-duty Navy sailors are required to have finished in full by Nov. 28. Reserve sailors, in the meantime, have till Dec. 28.
