Tammy pushes Kane… – but also pulls for him
Tammy Abraham is ready to push skipper Harry Kane for his place in England – amid Arsenal and Liverpool links.
But Roma’s ex-Chelsea striker will also be happy to be understudy to the man who has his sights set on England’s all-time goalscoring record.
Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate urged Abraham, 24, to prove he’s the right striker to put pressure on Kane’s 49-goal striker to keep delivering while chasing Wayne Rooney’s record 53 – or even replace it.
Abraham said: “I think for any player that’s the mentality to have – to be positive.
“Of course we all have a crush on Harry, we want him to break the record and we’re always here to support him.
“Whenever I get a chance when I’m on a field with him, I’ll try to help him achieve his goals.
“But for me, it’s all about whenever there’s an opportunity, just try to grab it with two hands and just show what you’re made of.”
