FESTIVAL-goers were alerted by thick black smoke billowing from downtown Nashville during CMA Fest 2022 on Saturday.
Crews have been responding to a structure fire at an industrial building, the Nashville Fire Department has confirmed.
An update shared by the fire service at 4.15pm local time says crews have contained the fire and it is not spreading.
“We still have no injuries as our staff continue to put out the fire,” the fire department said.
The fire was reported around 3:30 p.m. local time.
“The building is a warehouse and was fully impacted when crews arrived,” the Nashville Fire Department said.
“North 1st Street is currently closed.”
Firefighters are still on site fighting the fire.
Footage shared by the fire department on Twitter shows several fire engines at the scene working to put out the flames.
They also said that the CMA Fest “is not in the footprint of this incident.”
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department told the Tennessean that the fire did not start on the festival site.
Thick black smoke rose from the area near the festival.
CMA Fest is taking place in Nashville this weekend, with Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan expected to headline at Nissan Stadium.
Also scheduled to appear are Brothers Osborne, Luke Combs and Randy Houser.
According to the CMA Fest website, the gates for Saturday’s headliners were scheduled to open at 6:30 p.m. local time at Nissan Stadium.
CMA Fest takes place June 9-12 in Nashville.
