Napoli unveil an extremely bold new Valentine’s Day kit, leaving fans very divided

NAPOLI extended their lead at the top of Serie A in a Valentine’s-themed jersey that has left fans greatly divided.

Luciano Spalletti’s side defeated Cremonese 3-0 thanks to goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Victor Osimhen and Eljif Elmas.

But it was the equipment rather than the team, now 16 points clear in the Scudetto race, that got everyone talking.

Despite playing at home, Napoli did not wear their famous blue kit, instead opting for a white kit with red trim.

And most striking of all, the top had huge lips planted on the bottom to represent a kiss.

Some fans fell in love with the design, one said: “Napoli kits are so fiery.”

While others disagreed: “Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything more terrifying than this Napoli shirt.”

More commented, “This Napoli Valentine kit is cute, yes, but it’s also hideous.”

This isn’t the first time the Italian title-chasers have sported a somewhat unusual kit this season.

For a friendly against Villarreal during the World Cup break in December, the Napoli side wore a Christmas jersey with a cartoon reindeer on it.

It led to a fan JokeG: “Imagine Napoli mathematically winning the league wearing a shirt with the Easter Bunny on it.”

In previous campaigns, a shirt with the face of club legend Diego Maradona was worn after his death in 2020.

And the 2018/19 home kit featured a hidden animal, while this year’s away kit featured snake skin.
