Napoli beat Victor Osimhen £102m price tag and must sell star to seal Cristiano Ronaldo transfer from Man Utd

NAPOLI have put a £102million price tag on Victor Osimhen, which they must sell to buy Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is on the market after making it clear he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.

United boss Erik ten Hag was initially opposed to the 37-year-old leaving but has since opened the door for him to leave.

The Portugal international has been dropped for United’s last two games, which they have won back-to-back.

The Red Devils followed up their convincing 2-1 win over Liverpool with a comfortable 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.

Ronaldo’s relegation to the bench would likely have increased his desire to leave Old Trafford.

But he has had a hard time finding an applicant with a multitude of clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, refusing his services.

However, it has emerged that Napoli are ready to bring the ex-Juventus star back to Serie A.

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly tried to arrange a loan move to Napoli for his client, which includes a swap deal for Osimhen.

And Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti refused to rule out a swoop for Ronaldo when questioned about the potential transfer.

But the Times claim Napoli are now looking to sell Osimhen for £102m to fund a move for Ronaldo.

The club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is a longtime admirer of Ronaldo and ready to show Osimhen the door to bring in the attacker.

Osimhen was once a target for Arsenal and Tottenham but only interested party Newcastle may be willing to invest over £100m for the star.

And if they manage to exonerate Osimhen, Ronaldo’s whopping £360,000-a-week shouldn’t be a problem for Napoli, as Laurentiis plans to use Italy’s “naturalization” tax laws to aid their pursuit.

The law provides tax cuts for Italian clubs who buy foreign players from abroad – meaning Napoli could save up to 50 per cent on Ronaldo’s salary.

A move to Napoli could be the answer for Ronaldo as they could offer him a chance to play Champions League football – unlike United whose absence from the competition this season has fueled his desire to leave.
