Naomi Osaka joins Victoria’s Secret as the newest member of VS Collective, saying she’s “delighted to now have more representation in the world”

Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka has partnered with Victoria’s Secret in an effort to make the brand more inclusive and diverse. Osaka will be part of the company’s new initiative VS Collective, joining models Paloma Elsesser and Valentina Sampaio, and athletes Megan Rapinoe and Eileen Gu, among others.

In an Instagram update, Osaka expressed her happiness to be part of the iconic brand. The Japanese say that as a child she never imagined something could happen like this.

“Finally happy to share that I’m joining Victoria’s Secret #VSCollection. So excited and proud to join an incredible group of women. I couldn’t have thought this could have happened while I was still young. small and I’m happy to have more representation in the world now. Can’t wait to share/show you how I’ll be collaborating with VS.”

The tennis fraternity rocked by the disappearance of the Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai, who hasn’t been heard since leveling accusations of sexually assaulted former Chinese vice premier Zhang Gaoli.

Recently Naomi Osaka joined growing chorus of voices demanding accountability on behalf of the Chinese. In a recent post on Twitter, the 24-year-old expressed shock at Peng Shuai’s disappearance along with hope that the Chinese and her family are safe.

The issue gained significant traction in the last week, with numerous current and former players, including Alize Cornet, Nicolas Mahut, Billie Jean King, Novak Djokovic and Martina Navratilova voice their concerns.

The ATP and WTA have also issued strong statements regarding the matter, demanding a fair and transparent trial regarding Peng Shuai’s allegations.

On Thursday, CGTN, a Chinese cable network, made public the contents of an email sent from Peng Shuai. In the letter, the Chinese side said that the allegations were “unverified” and “untrue”.

However, WTA President Steve Simon expressed his skepticism towards the letter, speech he’s having an “unbelievable” time it’s actually coming from Peng.
