Mystery when police find a bloody butcher knife and jerry can in a room with a burned body

A MAN has been arrested after being accused of brutally killing his roommate, police say.
Emergency services moved to an apartment in the west Phoenix on April 2nd. Police discovered a fire at the premises, which Ishmael Williams, 32, was trying to put out.
After the flames were put out, an unidentified 33-year-old man was found in the home “with apparent signs of trauma.”
According to court documents, the victim had a large cut on her neck and may have been set on fire.
Williams, who lived with the victim, told police the two had an argument over the rent and the pollution of the home.
Williams said he went into his bedroom and closed the door. However, he said he heard loud noises coming from his roommate’s bedroom and tried to open the door but it was locked.

“Ishmael forced entry into the bedroom,” the court documents say. “When the door was opened, Ishmael said the victim was standing in the flame- engulfed room.”
The man told police he ran outside to get help before going into the kitchen to fill a bucket of water and pour it over his roommate to put out the fire.
“Ishmael [sic] He told investigators that the victim did not touch any blood [was] discovered on his hands, calves, feet. Blood spatter was found on a pair of basketball pants that Ishmael was wearing,” the court documents said.
A bloody butcher knife and a jerry can were found in the victim’s bedroom, police said.
Williams denies all allegations against him.
“Crime scene evidence and interviews conducted led detectives to the arrest of Mr. Williams,” said Vincent Cole of the Phoenix Police Department.
Williams is accused killing. He was put in jail and is being held on $1 million bail.
