My husband’s family excluded me from their meal, so I took drastic action – he was angry, but I think it’s fair enough

Well, one woman who was at her wit’s end chose chaos when she decided to crash her in-laws’ dinner.

The 32-year-old woman, who goes by the online alias RestaurantCrasher, took to the internet to ask if she was at fault on a night that turned sour for everyone involved.
Feeling brave, the wife booked a table at the same restaurant where her husband’s family was having dinner and let them know she was there when she went to the bathroom.
The kicker is that she was never invited to the outing.
She appeared to have a solid reason for her actions, as she believed her husband’s family were selective in inviting her to their dinners.

She explained: “My husband’s parents, his two brothers (around 38 and 40 years old) and his brothers’ girlfriends/fiancés have a tradition of going out for dinner once a month.
“I get invited about 50 percent of the time. I spoke to my husband’s brother’s fiancee and she says she gets invited every time.”
On occasion her husband would even go so far as to say, “I’m going to the family dinner. It’s probably best if you sit this out.”
Whenever the woman suggested that she want to come, several fights apparently broke out.
Despite the circumstances, her partner and in-laws weren’t amused by her sly revelation over dinner.
Describing the day she decided she’d had enough and crashed the family’s restaurant meal, the woman said: “About a week ago my husband went to a family dinner to which I was not invited. I was very angry.
“So I called earlier that day and made reservations at the restaurant they were going to. My husband left without knowing about my reservations and I went 15 minutes after him.
“I ended up sitting at a table where I couldn’t see his family. So I got up like I was going to the bathroom and walked right past them.
“They were all there, including his brothers’ SOs. My husband looked completely shocked and asked me what I was doing.
“I told him I was dying for a steak, so I came and got one at the restaurant.
“My mother-in-law said it was very rude of me to interrupt her family dinner. I pointed out that I’m not trying to join them, just going to the bathroom.
“I told them to eat well and I left. I ate my steak alone.”
According to the woman, her husband of three was really pissed when he got home and told her he couldn’t believe how much of an “a*****e” she had been.
Her answer was to call him an a****** for not inviting her to his dinners when her brothers’ significant other could go.
“My husband said that the decision to invite him over is between him and his family and I should respect that,” the disfellowshipped woman concluded.
Following her story, she received an overwhelming amount of support from social media users.
“Wtf. Her husband and his family are all assholes,” one claimed.
“Maybe I just missed a memo or two or three, but if you get married, aren’t you part of the ‘family’?” one asked sardonically.
Another commented: “So what’s your deal with chopped liver, ask him if that means you’re not family as he married you?”
One strongly suggested: “This is honestly one of the most bizarre husband-wife dynamics. Allowing your wife to be left out of a family dinner is beyond appalling.
“This is your chosen family, how the hell are you going to break bread with people who disrespect your wife so much?
“Wtf did I just read that? OP you have to [get out] out of this situation.”
Since every story has two sides, other users were a bit more skeptical.
One said: “Sure if they don’t have a legitimate reason not to want them. There might be. Maybe something happened.”
“Hmmmm. This post is screaming at me for missing reasons. I would like to know the husband’s explanation for why the wife is not invited.

“Booking a reservation to ‘join’ the family doesn’t exactly call for a balanced person to me.
“I’m not saying the husband and his family aren’t assholes but I’m leaning towards INFO or ESH,” concluded another.
