My daughter’s school has refused her use of her asthma inhaler in the middle of an attack and I am absolutely furious

An angry mother has claimed her daughter was denied her inhaler while she was suffering from an asthma attack.

The self-proclaimed angry mama bear shared her story on TikTok, infuriating commenters at the alleged abuse.

Bella Marie, who can be found on the app at @bellamarie2817, began the clip by saying she has four daughters, three of whom have asthma.

“They each have an inhaler on file with instructions on how to use it,” she said.

One day her 10-year-old daughter felt like she was having an asthma attack in the middle of swimming class, prompting her to ask the teacher for help, the mother claimed last January.

However, the cooking mom said the response she received was ridiculous.

The teacher reportedly told the girl that “she wasn’t exercising enough to have an asthma attack.”

“He knew that because he also has asthma,” she said, recounting the teacher’s alleged words.

“So he didn’t let her go to the nurse.”

It wasn’t until the lesson was over that another teacher approached the young girl to ask what was going on.

Bella Marie’s daughter sat down in the hallway with her head on her knees because she felt her condition was getting worse, the mother claimed.

The teacher took the girl to see the school nurse, who unfortunately also gave her trouble, Bella Marie said in a follow-up video.

“The school nurse already told me a bit whether or not Gigi needed her inhaler,” the TikToker said.

“She checks and listens to her lungs and decides if it sounds like she’s having an asthma attack.”

In a fit of frustration, Bella Marie recounted an alleged conversation between her and the nurse in which the mother gave strict instructions to give her daughter the inhaler no matter how her lungs sounded.

The little girl was still denied her inhaler after the nurse listened to her lungs and ended up having to explicitly ask for the device, the mama bear claimed.

“In the end they gave it to her, but no kid who’s having an asthma attack or who feels like it’s hard to breathe should have to fight that hard,” she said.

TikToker users took advantage of the comments to express their anger and offer advice on how to deal with the situation going forward.

“These educators must be penalized and required to take educational courses on childhood asthma,” demanded one person.

Another said: “Your daughter’s feeling that she needs it overrides everything else.”

In a series of follow-up videos, the angry mother claimed she finally got permission for her daughter to carry the inhaler to avoid future problems.

“I’ve jumped through all the hoops now and it’s set up so they can carry their inhalers,” she said.

Going forward, the mother said she would ask for staff training so that teachers have a better understanding of childhood asthma.
