MW3 players are desperately hoping for the return of the Call of Duty 4 map

Modern Warfare 3 from Sledgehammer Games is the ultimate wave of nostalgia for the Call of Duty community, bringing back all 16 of the iconic MW2 (2009) maps.

While some players are craving brand new locations, other fans want the developers to go even further back and continue this journey into the past.

In their opinion, Call of Duty 4 is a goldmine of OG maps that deserve a chance to be recreated in Modern Warfare 3.

While there are countless fan-favorite locations in the first Modern Warfare title, there is one map that players crave more than any other.

On the way to Modern Warfare III Subreddit, user UnslimJim has called on Sledgehammer Games to redesign Downpour for MW3 multiplayer.

The low-visibility map isn’t talked about much these days, but it was a community favorite during the Call of Duty 4 era.

Probably the funniest SnD card in Cod,said one user, another claimed: “I would love to see it come back, it would work so well in this game.”

With the developers reportedly planning retro seasons that celebrate classic CoD titles, one would expect Downpour to show up when it’s time for the OG Modern Warfare to take the spotlight.

However, Downpour isn’t the only CoD4 map receiving praise from fans, with the community arguing: “Holy Trinity” of locations must be added.

The Holy Trinity of CoD4 maps – Downpour, Overgrown, Empty, I would be happy with any combination of these.” Additionally, Crossfire, Strike, and District were also mentioned, showing how many great cards the game had back then.

If MW3 does indeed get a CoD4 themed season, there will be another massive wave of nostalgia, possibly even surpassing the current MW2 (2009) maps in multiplayer.
