
After more than five years in WWE, Mustafa Ali requested his release from the company. SmackDown Superstar hasn’t aired on television since before Survivor Series last year.
Ali announced this on his Twitter handle, saying he “has a message much bigger than his dreams in professional wrestling”. Here is what he wrote:
“I have a message much bigger than my dreams in professional wrestling. No matter how hard I try, I won’t be able to deliver this message while working with WWE,” Ali wrote. “Therefore, I am asking to be released from WWE.”

Ali has come WWE was part of the Cruiserweight Classic in 2016 and became part of the 205 Live list as an energetic babyface. After several failed attempts to win the Cruiserweight Championship, he was transferred to SmackDown.
His starting lineup career got off to a good start when he appeared in games against Daniel Bryan. However, Ali’s run was rife with pauses and near misses.
From an ill-timed injury that led to KofiMania to a failure to DISTRIBUTE as a team, Ali has been extremely unlucky throughout his time at the company. His last match was on the October 29 episode of SmackDown, where he lost to Drew McIntyre.
